Comb's Set Question
« on: February 21, 2004, 12:12:51 PM »
Here I go with another Feud post.  Sorry.

I watched the Comb's Feud today and noticed something very unusual.  The ever-curious, never used 4th digit has already been added to the bank but the Family Feud Challenge is weeks away.

Then I remembered they had a set used for shows produced on the road.  Is this the set?  Or did they modify the original set for Family Feud Challenge?  I hope someone can help set me straight.

Speaking of the modified set, check my web page out  in the next few days.  I plan on posting a pic I'll use for the set.  I think you'll all like-ie.

The Family Feud Challenge shows if you were paying attention began the week after these shows that are airing now. Ray made mention of it if you were paying attention.

Perhaps he didn't hear Ray announce it?  He was only asking...

Anyway

The set used on the road version of the show looks rather familiar (http://www.geocities.com/dawsonbot_r2d2/dawsonbotpage23.html)  They probably just got the set ready before the start of FFC since its right around the corner.

So the Feud94 set *was* recycled from the Opryland set I assume from looking at those pictures...just add some glass brick panels and touch up a few things.

Yeah... even down to the stationary BM board.  For the time, the chromakey survey board was nice looking, but it made for some ackward camera shots since they couldn't have any angle shots of the survey board... only head on.

Too bad that they didn't have the current version of the board.

I'm not sure, they might be. See, I noticed that they had the 3 digit readout, and that they had the older fast money win graphic. But they had the As the World Turns against the Guiding Light, as Ray had mentioned on yesterday's rerun. Also, during the credits Gene mentioned, "Remember there's more Family Feud coming up next",or something like that. If this is the first hour long shows, did they not use the Bullseye round till the following week?

Don't they show a separate group of shows on the weekends?

So they're showing FF Challenge across two days?

Anyway, I have a Combs set question of my own, which applies to the later years (mostly seen on New FF, and then FF94 with Richard).  I notice that in Fast Money, some answers have an asterisk at the end of them.  Does someone recall what this was for?

Asterisks were seen on the board in this and similar instances: if a contestant gave an answer like Shirt, an asterisk would be on the board to denote that that answer includes all clothing.

Sounds like they're showing the "Eternal Battle of the Soap Operas". Four weeks, to fill in the half hour before the regular Family Feud started.

As for the fourth digit, when you see more shows like that notice the fronts of the family podiums stick out further than normal (like maybe they put a cover over the Bullseye scoreboards). And, strangest of all, there's a week of basketball cheerleaders where, during the opening, you can see what looks like the bottom edge of the big Bullseye board at the top of the screen. Though I think that was the syndicated version.

Were the regular Feud shows aired after that reruns, or new episodes? If they were new, maybe they've decided to go back to the spring of 91, instead of going back to 88, sorta dumb if you ask me

OK, finished looking at the pictures. What sound was used in the Front Game? The traditional Ding, or the Blip (Fast Money reveal)?
